World Rabies Day
September 28th marks Louis Pasteur's death in 1895 โ the scientist who developed the first rabies vaccine in 1885, saving a nine-year-old boy from certain death. Rabies still kills approximately 59,000 people annually, 99% from dog bites, predominantly in Asia and Africa. The vaccine is 100% effective if given before symptoms appear.
