World Prematurity Day

November 17th raises awareness of premature birth — babies born before 37 weeks. Approximately 15 million babies are born prematurely each year, and complications from prematurity are the leading cause of death among children under five globally. Kangaroo mother care — skin-to-skin contact — has been proven as effective as incubators in many settings.
