World Malaria Day

Malaria kills an estimated 627,000 people annually, 96% of them in sub-Saharan Africa, 80% of those under five years old. The disease is preventable and treatable. The development of the RTS,S vaccine in 2021 — after 30 years of research — is one of public health's most significant recent achievements.
