National Workaholics Day

July 5th — strategically placed just after the US Independence Day long weekend — is National Workaholics Day, ostensibly celebrating those who cannot disconnect. The term workaholic was coined by psychologist Wayne Oates in 1971. He later described it as a real addiction with withdrawal symptoms. The holiday is, appropriately, mostly ignored by the people it describes.
