National Taco Day

The taco predates any European contact with the Americas — Aztec workers ate fish and insects wrapped in corn tortillas. October 4th was designated by Taco Bell in 1989 to drive promotions. Americans eat an estimated 4.5 billion tacos annually. Mexican-American taco culture is now a distinct culinary tradition from the Mexican original, and both are legitimate.
