National Squirrel Appreciation Day
Squirrels forget where they bury roughly 74% of their nuts, making them one of the most productive accidental foresters on the planet. Wildlife biologist Christy Hargrove created this day in 2001 to encourage leaving supplemental food out in winter. The squirrels adapted immediately and now expect it.
