National Middle Child Day

August 12th was designated by Elisabeth Walker in the 1980s as a corrective to the perceived neglect of middle siblings. Birth order psychology has since become contested science — studies show effects are small and inconsistent. The middle children disagree, unanimously, and have done so since long before this holiday gave them a platform.
