National Comic Book Day

September 25th celebrates a medium that began as disposable entertainment and became a serious art form. Action Comics No.1 from 1938 — featuring Superman's debut — sold for 10 cents. A copy sold for $6 million in 2022. The graphic novel Maus won the Pulitzer Prize in 1992. The medium that created Batman now shapes global cinema.
