National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day
Ruth Wakefield invented the chocolate chip cookie in 1938 at the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts by adding chopped Nestle chocolate to a butter cookie recipe. She sold the recipe to Nestle for one dollar and a lifetime supply of chocolate. Americans now consume 7 billion chocolate chip cookies annually, and Ruth's deal is studied in every business school.
