National Cheeseburger Day
The cheeseburger was invented in 1924 by 16-year-old Lionel Sternberger at a Pasadena, California diner when he added a slice of American cheese to a hamburger on a whim. The US fast food industry sells an estimated 6.5 billion burgers a year, and the cheeseburger accounts for the majority of those. Lionel never trademarked anything.
