Mickey Mouse Day
Steamboat Willie premiered in New York City on November 18th, 1928 — the first Mickey Mouse cartoon with synchronised sound and effectively the founding moment of the Disney empire. Mickey's copyright has been extended by the US Congress repeatedly over the decades. The 1928 version of Mickey entered the public domain in January 2024; Minnie followed in 2025.
