Loy Krathong
On the full moon of the twelfth lunar month — approximately November — Thais float small decorated baskets called krathong on rivers and lakes, releasing them as offerings to the goddess of water and symbols of letting go of grievances. The Chiang Mai version includes Yi Peng lanterns released into the sky simultaneously. It is one of Asia's most photographed celebrations.
