Lewis and Clark Departure Day
On May 14th, 1804, the Corps of Discovery set out from Camp Dubois, Illinois, beginning one of history's greatest overland expeditions. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark would travel over 8,000 miles to the Pacific and back in 28 months, guided in part by Sacagawea, documenting over 300 previously unrecorded plant and animal species.
