International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1992, December 3rd promotes the rights and inclusion of the 1.3 billion people who experience significant disability — 16% of the world's population. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, adopted in 2006, is the fastest-ratified UN human rights treaty in history.
