Fall of the Berlin Wall
On the night of November 9th, 1989, East German authorities announced that citizens could cross the border freely. Crowds gathered at checkpoints, guards stood aside, and crowds began dismantling the Wall with hammers and bare hands. The Wall had divided Berlin since 1961. It fell in one night, without a single shot fired on either side.
